Our Services
Clipper Blade Sharpening
We use the ExtremeKut machines from Huff’s Wholesale with Andis factory lapping wheels, having one 16″ machine and one 21″ machine. Additionally, we use the Nebraska Blades machines for certain applications, having one 14″ machine, one 16″ machine, and one machine with the 15″ Extreme-Kut sheep wheel from Huff’s Wholesale. These lapping wheels are designed to maintain &/or re-establish a 1/4 degree hollow-ground profile on the cutting surface of each blade, which is how most blades come from the factory. The blades are not ground but rather lapped which removes a minimal amount of material (.001 – .0015). This requires a clean blade, free from rust, and will result in possibly 8 – 10 sharpenings per blade. The sharpening is done by hand, just like at the factory. This requires precision and superior expertise which only comes from professional training and years of experience.
Clipper Repair w/OEM parts
We use all Original Equipment Manufacturers’ parts in the repairs we do and we have hundreds of parts in stock for barber, pet grooming, horse, cattle, and sheep clippers. We work on most major brands including Andis, Double K, Heiniger, Lister, Oster, Premier, and Wahl. When we do a service or repair we completely disassemble the clipper, clean all parts, check all parts for wear or damage, test all electrical components with specialized equipment, change any parts that need replacing, lubricate, re-assemble, and then run the unit to ensure it is again working properly.
Scissor & Shear Sharpening
We use the Hamaguri flat hone/corrugating machine to sharpen convex-edge beauty & pet grooming shears, medical instruments, and corrugate bevel-edged scissors (barber, beauty, and pet grooming). All scissors sharpening is done with a process that guarantees only the minimal amount of material is removed which is necessary to re-establish the cutting edge again. The procedures we use are similar to the way it is done at the factory and the results are the same. We use the “Twice-as-Sharp” machine to sharpen all bevel-edged scissors, which creates a hollow-ground cutting edge and usually achieves an edge that is 2 – 5 times sharper than it was from new. We also have the unique ability to create or maintain the “laser edge” just like they do at the C-Mon factory and to corrugate (just like the old-time barbers were used to having) the blades on almost any scissor a customer desires. We have been factory-trained and certified to sharpen convex-edge and bevel-edge barber, beauty, and pet grooming scissors. All scissors and shears are sharpened, cleaned, reconditioned, lubricated, balanced, & tested before leaving our shop.
Medical & Dental Instruments
We use the Hamaguri flat hone to sharpen most of the medical instruments and some of the larger dental tools. A flex-shaft unit is used to sharpen any tool with a unique profile or cutting angle. A mini buffer is used to clean and polish the instruments to a like-new appearance. And the Rx honing machine is designed specifically to sharpen most any and all dental and orthodontic instruments. We have been professionally trained to sharpen medical instruments and have received basic training for dental instruments.
Knives & Cutlery
We use a special polishing machine to clean the blade, recondition the overall appearance of the knife, and remove minimal rust if needed. We use the Hamaguri Professional Knife Sharpener or other machines to thin the edge and create a burr. We then use the Tru Hone to remove the burr and create a triple-bevel hollow-ground cutting edge. Last, we use a buffing machine to smooth the edge and remove any micro burr that may still be left. This is a five-step procedure and most knives leave our shop “razor-sharp”. This edge works very well for kitchen, butcher, and hunting knives and can be maintained by the consumer quite readily with professional steel. We also have the unique ability to sharpen serrated knives and re-establish the serrations if needed.
